Last week, I sent a dozen pictures to the organ builder like the first picture below: the “mouth” of the pipes in the façade of the organ.
As you can see in the second picture below, there are a few pipes that have buckled over the past 40 years because of the weight of the pipe and the softness of the metal. As part of the project, these pipes will be replaced, after mulling over many different options of how to repair them and maintain aesthetic.
But the pipe maker needed photos of the mouths from many different angles, so that the brushed appearance matches exactly how the other pipes look. There’s a detail I didn’t expect! It seems that there are thousands of these details that are making the final product in March something truly wonderful.
