Patrick Simcox (Chair)

A baptized Roman Catholic, Patrick has been a member of the Episcopal Church since 1979.  Originally from eastern North Carolina, Patrick and his wife Laura moved to High Point in 2004 and joined St. Mary’s in 2008.  A current member of the Vestry, Patrick serves as a layreader and has served on the Stewardship Committee since 2015 (Chair 2016-2019).

Mark Penley

Baptized at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in High Point, Mark returned in 2017 with his wife, Courtney, have two daughters, Kennedy (7) and Madison (5). Mark is a member of the Brotherhood of St. Andrews, as well as serving on the Stewardship Committee.


John Wall

John has been a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church all his life (71years) and was Baptized by his great-grandfather, Rev. H. Norwood Browne, the Rector at St. Mary’s from 1922–32. Read More »

 


Evie Cottam

Evie Cottam was baptized and raised in the American Lutheran Church in South Dakota. She has been an Episcopalian since 1992 and a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal since that time. Read More »

 


Diane Popalis 

A life-long Episcopalian, Diane has served over the years as a vestry person, Director of Christian Formation, Sunday school teacher, and member of the choir. Diane currently serves on the board of The Friendship Table, co-directs the Center for Prayer and Spirituality at St. Mary’s, and is a presenter and group facilitator for Centering Prayer.


Lauren Graeber

Lauren Graeber has been a member of St. Mary’s and an Episcopalian since 2016. Lauren, her husband John, and their two children Annie and Ben moved to High Point five years ago. Since that time she completed her MDiv at Wake Forest University, served as the parish chair of the Welcoming Committee for New Members, co-led the Anti-racism book study, and is the co-director of the Center for Prayer and Spirituality.


Stephanie Gardner-Cole

Stephanie was raised in the Baptist Church and started attending St. Mary’s in 2001. She married Hodge Cole at St. Mary’s in 2002 and was confirmed there in 2012. Read More »

 


Jason W. Johnson 

Jason became a member of The Episcopal Church in 2013 and was received in 2014. Born and raised in eastern North Carolina, Jason moved to High Point in 2013 and became a member of St. Mary’s a few months after making the move to his new home. Jason has served on the vestry since 2019 and is the president of the board of The Friendship Table.


Bob Kuhn

Bob, a lifelong Episcopalian, joined St. Mary’s in 1990. He has been a member of the choir, off and on, for a number of years. Prior to his retirement in 2011, Bob taught AP English Language at the Career Center in Winston Salem and was an AP Instructor for English teachers during summers (AP Institutes). He and his wife Cathy have been married for 42 years.  They have one son, David, who now lives with his wife Katie in Jupiter, FL.  They have recently added a rescue kitten (Bailey) to their family.
